Indian Food

Indian food is very popular in Penang as it is everywhere in the world. There are a large number of Muslim Indians in Malaysia, called “Mamaks”. The Hawker Stalls operated by these Mamaks are normally referred to as “Mamak Stalls” which usually serve halal food for Malays, Indians and all other Malaysians.

There are some very good Indian Restaurants in Penang, serving north and south indian cuisine. But as with all the other types of food in Penang, the Hawker Stalls / Mamak Stalls / Coffee Shops will frequently serve up these delicacies at a fraction of the price.
